The Reopening of HotHouse To Take Place In Bronzeville

HotHouse is set to make a comeback in a new space at what was formerly Donnelly Youth Center.

Marguerite Horberg confirmed the reopening of HotHouse and the addition of a restaurant to the cultural center. HotHouse will be in the space that was formerly Donnelly Youth Center at 3947-3953 South Michigan Avenue.

When contacted by What Now Chicago about the restaurant space opening in HotHouse, she exposed the concept will be sit-down and walk up kiosk based. The joint will offer BBQ and some fine dining options.

Horberg was unable to provide full comment on the environment or the menu, she replied, “We are looking for a restaurant partner, so there is nothing really to publicize at this time.”

Founded in 1987, HotHouse is a space that will be organizing social justice projects and arts programs on top of the new concept of a restaurant. According to HotHouse’s website they, “present performances, exhibitions and other cultural and humanities events that build diverse audiences.”

HotHouse is known throughout the region for supporting grassroots development, social justice activism and international exchange.

With the new location coming about, Horberg is looking to honor the previous locations and traditions of HotHouse.
