“Our goal is to open soon, hopefully sometime in January, but not sure yet. We will provide authentic, simple Mexican food, like street tacos,” the president of Tacos Jerez, Ricardo Olague, told What Now Chicago.

“I had always wanted to open a restaurant when I came to the United States, and I was working at a restaurant as my first job. While most of Chicago’s tacos are great, they don’t have the feeling of simple and authentic street tacos. That was my main goal with Tacos Jerez.”

Taco Jerez’s company website describes its offerings as “Prepared daily we offer handmade tortillas (used in burritos and quesadillas), handmade masa dough (used in sopes and gorditas), and the crowd favorite, Quesabirria Tacos Con Consome! We also sell Menudo on the weekends!”

The Daily Herald article that was previously mentioned provides a bit more information, stating, “The restaurant will be located in the former Burger King at 12262 Route 47, and plans to use the two drive-through lanes that Burger King put in. One of those lanes will be for online, call-ahead, and mobile orders, while the other will be for ordering at the drive-through, according to village documents.”

A village board meeting packet goes on to add, “Tacos Jerez anticipates utilizing the existing dual drive-through, which will require a Special Use Permit. The owner has indicated that they intend to apply for a liquor license at a later date.”
