The award-winning steakhouse Perry’s Steakhouse & Grill will open a new site in Vernon Hills, located at 122 Hawthorn Center.
The Texas-based company currently has Illinois locations at Oak Brook at Schaumburg. Now, the company plans to open a new free-standing 11,000-square-foot restaurant in the Hawthorn Mall, at the southwest corner of Ring Road and Milwaukee Avenue, according to The Daily Herald. The new Perry’s will seat up to 350 inside, with the help of four private dining rooms, along with room for 45 guests outside on the patio. Customers can expect the company to open this location in late 2023.
This isn’t the only location founder/ CEO Chris Perry is working on. While the restaurant can already be found in Denver, Nashville, Raleigh, Coral Gables, Birmingham, and throughout Texas, Perry’s is expected to break into Richmond, Virginia, with a new site opening in 2023 at the Short Pump Town Center. The new Vernon Hills location will be designed in partnership with Chicago-based Aria Group Architects Inc., according to a press release.
The idea of an upscale steakhouse coming to the Hawthorne Mall surfaced earlier this year, hoping to draw in other high-profile tenants. Perry’s isn’t the only new addition to the mall either. New shopping and dining options will be coming to the former Sears anchor site later next year. The village board recently approved plans for the former Carson’s anchor site, including 55,000 square feet of new retail/restaurant space, a new mall entry, and 250 luxury apartments. All of this is expected to be completed by January 2025.
“Anytime a new tenant with the stature of Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille comes on board, it absolutely attracts the attention of other new prospective tenants,” said Jeff Rutzen, Hawthorn general manager.
