Pizza Lobo, the popular Logan square pizzeria from Heisler Hospitality, will take over the space that last housed a 7-Eleven on the corner of Clark Street and Catalpa Avenue in Andersonville. Currently under construction, the location will provide Pizza Lobo with a much larger patio, so, come spring 2022, you can expect to find a ‘heightened outdoor experience’ at the eatery’s second location.

Pizza Lobo serves up pies inspired by the New York-style. Made with three-day fermented sourdough, these pies are chewy, foldable, and feature that classic thin-crust bite.

According to Heisler Hospitality Director of PR + Marketing Hannah Turnbaugh Compton, Lobo’s new spot will feature its signature dishes like the Fried Cauliflower, made with gremolata, Calabrian chile honey, and fennel pollen aioli; Wing Dings, chicken wings confit in duck fat, fried, and tossed in a house-made buffalo sauce; and specialty pizzas like the Provolone & ‘Nduja.

That said, the new location will provide some room for growth. “The core identity of the menu will remain the same, however Andersonville’s kitchen is much larger, so we’ll have some more freedom to expand upon and play around with the menu,” wrote Turnbaugh Compton in an email with What Now Chicago.

With Pizza Lobo comes not only great pizza but also a cultivated sense of community. “With any of our projects, our goal is to bring something that adds value to our neighbors and builds upon the energy of the neighborhood that already exists,” shared Turnbaugh Compton. “Andersonville is such a vibrant, tight-knit community – it just felt right for Lobo’s second home!”

You can expect to find vibes similar to the eatery’s flagship location in Logan Square—the real difference will come in the size of the patio, which will be partially enclosed for enjoyment during the colder months.

Look for Pizza Lobo Andersonville to open in spring 2022, and be sure to check out the ‘za on social media in the meantime.
