Classic Roman-style pizzeria, Bonci, is in negotiation for new locations in Naperville and Chicago O’Hare International Airport. What Now Chicago contacted the Director of Operations at Bonci, Chakib Touhami, on Wednesday about the new restaurants. He declined to comment, expressing, “it is very early in the process and we are unsure of when the locations will open and where they will be.”

In 2020, two Bonci locations failed due to the pandemic, one in New Orleans and Miami. Another location closed after two years of being open in Wicker Park. Touhami shared, they are “excited for the new expansions” in the works.
Bonci is known for its unique Roman-style pies. The menu on Bonci’s website of the West Loop restaurant offers meat, vegetarian and vegan pizzas. Salads are also available, as well as an assortment of beverages. Bonci also offers catering for breakfast options, alongside a lunch and dinner menu.
Bonci Pizzeria is the brainchild of the world-famous chef Gabriele Bonici. Bonci’s original location is in Rome, Italy. The pizza joint moved to the United States in 2017, its brick-and-mortar came Chicago’s West Loop.
They are opening a location near the Chicago River bordering Lakeview in July 2023.
