Bronzeville Winery, coming soon to Bronzeville, has filed a liquor license application with the City of Chicago as of January 10th for its home at 4414-4420 S Cottage Grove Avenue. The wine bar and restaurant is a collaboration between The Silver Room’s Eric Williams and Cecilia Cuff of The Nascent Group; the project was first announced in spring 2021.

“The intention of Bronzeville Winery is to create a menu that is as eloquent, interesting and dynamic as the history that shaped the South side of Chicago,” shares the winery’s website. “With sharing at its core, the Bronzeville Winery will feature a menu paying homage to the flavors of the African diaspora paired with wine, craft cocktails and beer for every palate, served in a comfortable, welcoming location for the community to gather.”

Celebrating Bronzeville, the community minded concept promises a rotating list of wines from around the world and will highlight African American-owned labels. The wine bar will also indulge in craft cocktails, “The kind with touches of locally sourced honey, adorned with fresh picked edible flowers and served in delicate glassware that makes every cocktail feel like a special occasion.”

Menu items highlighted on Bronzeville’s website include a Pear Vanilla Mimosa, Bananas Foster French Toast with Crème, and Chickpea Cake with Achiote Curry, Acorn Squash, Spanish Olive Oil and Arugula.

The team behind the project has been sharing updates over social media, and the space on Cottage Grove Avenue has been under construction for the last few months. There is no word just yet on when exactly the winery will open, but we suggest you keep an eye on Bronzeville’s social media to stay in-the-know.
