According to a recent article from Block Club Chicago, G.O.O.D Pineapple Hospitality will open a new concept called Red River Dicks at 1935 N Sedgwick St.
This will be the second new concept slated to open soon from G.O.O.D, according to a press release sent to What Now Chicago. “Two concepts, that couldn’t be further apart in theme, but share an unparalleled tie of outstanding service and “all are welcome” inclusive social atmospheres, will make their mark in Chicago in 2024, starting with the opening of The Pink Polo in the Spring, followed by Red River Dicks in the Summer.”
“Inspired by the travels and stories of the prominent 18th-century African American cowboy, Nat Love, AKA “Red River Dick,” G.O.O.D Pineapple is unleashing a modern country bar and BBQ restaurant rooted in rich American history, cuisine, and music, unlike anything Chicago has ever seen.”
“To know the restaurant is to know its namesake, Red River Dick. Historically known as Nat Love, but reputationally known as Red River Dick, Nat Love is considered the first notorious American Cowboy. A former slave following the Civil War, Love’s exploits have made him one of the famous heroes of the Old West.”
“Like The Delta, we have tapped into our Black roots to unearth a concept that encapsulates Black excellence with inspiration from a Black icon that you’ll rarely read about in textbooks,” Eldridge Williams, co-founder, operating partner, and creative director of G.O.O.D Pineapple in the press release, “Red River Dicks will be a traditionally rooted, modern American country bar and BBQ restaurant with a rich Nashville-meets-Aztec aesthetic. It will not be corny, nor ordinary. It won’t be honky-tonk, or your mama’s square-dancing club. It’s sophisticated, lively, approachable, and you better believe it’ll give Nashville-Bachelorette destinations a run for their money.”
“Red River Dick’s, opening in the former Sedgwick’s Bar & Grill space (1935 N Sedgwick), will invite Lincoln Park locals and Chicagoans to settle into a vintage interior, complemented by a modern cowboy club-like dining room and bar.”
“Surrounded by custom wood finishes, Aztec decor, reclaimed wooden tabletops, rich leather, an 18th-century designed bar, and dramatic chandeliers, guests will feel like they’re about to witness an old-time cowboy walk through the door with a cigar in his mouth, and tipping his hat at ladies before he saddles up to a whiskey sour and plate of brisket and burnt tips.”
“Specific concept highlights include a bustling and lively atmosphere, an expansive beer menu, a vintage saloon with urban influence, traditional and large-format craft cocktails, a family-friendly environment during the day, and a special celebratory (i.e. bachelorette parties) destination at night, a show-stopping bar that can seat 30+ guests, a sidewalk cafe that seats 40-50 guests, and a private event space.”
“Red River Dick’s food and drink menus will showcase regional flavors and dishes exalted with approachable innovation and creativity. Accommodating up to 110 dining room and bar guests, Red River Dick intends to bring a casual dining experience encompassed in a sophisticated atmosphere, for patrons to indulge in regionally inspired BBQ dishes from around the U.S., alongside craft cocktails, while enjoying dynamic live music.”
“Some menu highlights include the Crusted Cowboy Beef Ribs, Tennessee Smokehouse Duck Sandwich, Garlic and Parsley Buttered Grilled Sweet Corn Elote, and Red River Ranch Potato Salad,” the press release states.
