Like many business owners, Amar “Mer” Mansuria spent most of the pandemic trying to keep his restaurant, Casa Indigo, in business. While he managed to do so, as well as helped other eateries stay alive, such as Rubi’s Tacos, Mansuria had been searching for a new home since April 2021, according to Eater Chicago. Although Casa Indigo closed down last month, Mansuria tells What Now Chicago he is planning something much bigger and less than a mile from the old restaurant.

Later this year, Mansuria is not planning one new business but three different eateries, all within one space, called Indigo. First, there will be a cafe with a coffee bar, breakfast options, and other snacks and drinks. Mansuria tells What Now Chicago he might name this spot Cafe Indigo but is still deciding. There will also be a yet-to-be-named Mexican seafood restaurant with wholesale options. Mansuria plans to offer an Indian Mexican tasting menu, brunch, and wine pairing at this restaurant.

Last but not least, the space, which is right near Dvorak Park, will also feature a speakeasy called The Lo Lo for anyone who wants to stick around after dinner. The speakeasy will feature drinks from star bartender Denisse Soto, formerly of Osito’s Tap in Little Village, according to Eater. Mansuria tells What Now Chicago he hopes to open the restaurant and cafe first, hopefully by the end of November 2022. The speakeasy is set to debut last.
