The restaurant currently has two locations — one in Avondale and another inside United Center — according to its website, with the new spot will open at 668 Vernon Avenue in Glencoe.
Co-owner Christine Cikowski told What Now Chicago that the exact opening date hasn’t been confirmed because the construction is yet to begin. She said that the new location will also feature a counter-service ordering style and it will have the same “very friendly, generous, and welcoming services” that customers find at Honey Butter Fried Chicken.
The restaurant first opened 10 years ago with a focus on offering customers a special fried chicken experience as it served crispy chicken with salty, sweet honey butter as a dip. It has grown to include pick-up, delivery, and catering services.
Cikowski also said that a few new options might be added to the menu such as grilled chicken, extra salads, a “more robust” pie menu, and draft beer.
“We’re still testing it so I don’t have any details other than we’re going to have non-fried chicken options there. All I really know right now is that we have not finalized the menu at all,” she added.
Honey Butter Fried Chicken doesn’t only promote itself as a boneless and skinless chicken joint, but also as a progressive place for workers. The restaurant provides a “living and thriving” wage for its employees and incorporates a gainsharing business model, which means that employees benefit every time the business exceeds the restaurant’s quarterly forecast.
