Founded in 2013 by Temoc Morfin, Cilantro Taco Grill provides a fast-casual experience with a focus on modern and authentic Mexican cuisine. “At Cilantro Taco Grill, we preserve authenticity within our flavor,” Ivan Rojas explained over an email interview with What Now Chicago. Rojas, Marketing Manager for Cilantro Taco Grill and owner of the Old Town location, is the nephew of Morfin.

“Thanks to our loyal customers, we have grown into 12 locations scattered throughout the suburbs, including a tortilla factory,” added Rojas.

According to a building permit filed with the City of Chicago, the North Avenue space will undergo an interior build-out with modifications made to the existing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

333 North Avenue is an ideal location for the fast-casual brand. “Whether you are getting on or off the Sedgwick CTA stop, or making your way down North Avenue, it is a convenient and prime location in Old Town,” Rojas says. The storefront has access to an adjacent parking lot, and while Rojas says the 1,200 square-foot restaurant will be primarily a take-out location, there is dine-in capacity for approximately 16 patrons.

Rojas says the storefront is currently under construction, and Cilantro Taco Grill Old Town will celebrate its grand opening in the next two months.
