According to a recent article from NBC Chicago, Cafe Castemila will open in the Westfield Old Orchard Mall, located at 4905 Old Orchard Center.
“We plan to open sometime in the spring of 2024. We will offer a minimum of 18 flavors of gelato, gelato on sticks, gelato cakes, coffee, tea, gelato shakes, lemonade, hot chocolate, coffee and chocolate with gelato, and freshly made pastry including but not limited to croissants (sweet and savory), tarts, tiramisu, eclairs, cookies, and more,” the owner of Cafe Castemila, Kasia Kramarz, told What Now Chicago.
“My family has been producing gelato for over 25 years with multiple branches located in the various commercial areas in Poland. This is our first venture in establishing a branch in the United States. We pride ourselves on using the most premium and natural ingredients for our gelato.”
“Our gelato ingredients are imported from Italy. With production on-site, our gelato will be produced in small batches to keep its maximum freshness. It has been my dream for a very long time to open a location in the US and with the help of my family (sister and brother) this dream is finally becoming a reality,” Kasia added.
The NBC Chicago article states that another restaurant will be opening at the Westfield Old Orchard Mall in addition to Cafe Castemila. “Westfield Old Orchard will also see new dining options in 2024, including Cupitol, which has locations in Chicago and Evanston and describes itself as a mixing of the “best elementals of a restaurant, bakery, café, exclusive bar.”
“The giant redevelopment project, the mall has said, is part of an effort to make Westfield Old Orchard the “preeminent live, work, shop, and play destination on the North Shore.”
“The transformational redevelopment now underway at Westfield Old Orchard will enhance experiences for Skokie residents and visitors, supporting the center as an economic engine for our community,” Skokie Mayor George Van Dusen said in a press release in 2022, according to the NBC article.
“The Village looks forward to continuing its collaboration with Westfield Old Orchard to help Skokie thrive and remain the North Shore’s premier shopping, dining and entertainment destination for decades to come.”
