The project is a joint venture between real estate developer Hubbard Street Group and tennis clubs operator College Park Athletic Clubs. Pickle Haüs aims to cater to individuals who like playing pickleball, the fastest-growing sport in America.

The first location will be at 1621 S. Randall Road in northwest suburban Algonquin, which will open in November as the first of five locations for pickleball players in Chicago.

The joint venture is currently under construction to replace a former 41,000-square-foot furniture store.

The sports entertainment facility will feature 12 indoor pickleball courts, three gold simulators, an outdoor patio, and an entertainment/event space that can accommodate large gatherings such as birthday parties and corporate events.

Graham Palmer the managing partner at Hubbard Street Group told What Now Chicago that the exciting part of this joint venture is the “enormous growth” of the sport that he sees as currently profitable.

“It’s really exciting that we’re going to be part of this concept that is going to be part of that growth to get more people to be able to play the game,” he said. “Combining that with the entertainment and food and beverage [creates] a great social environment.”

Palmer explained that the restaurant at the facility will not be fine-dining or fast-casual, but it will be more family-oriented with a menu that fits with the game.

“We’ve been working on it and it’s going to be a menu with appetizers and salads. Our main dish is going to be pizza, we’re gonna have many different pizza toppings. We’re also going to have a weekend brunch program, and we will have basically grab-and-go during the week,  as well as lunch with salads and sandwiches, and pastries and coffee in the morning for breakfast,” Palmer said.
