A representative of Jamaican Jerk Villa Bar & Grill was not immediately available to comment upon What Now Chicago’s request.

According to the article, “Beginning Labor Day weekend, neighbors can relax with a rum punch and meal at Jamaican Jerk Villa Bar & Grill. The newly designed restaurant at 642-648 W. 79th St. will open with indoor and patio seating, said owner Peter McKnight.”

“The coming weeks will mark a new era for the South Side staple, McKnight said. Jamaican Jerk Villa Bar & Grill will continue to serve neighborhood favorites, but new items like Caribbean fried chicken and fish are joining the menu. With a city-approved liquor license, the restaurant can also now offer sweet cocktails to dine-in patrons, McKnight said.”

“Jamaican Jerk Villa has served hot chicken combos and seafood dinners in Auburn Gresham for over 20 years. McKnight and his late mother, Vinette, opened their jerk cuisine business in 2002 with nothing but “a stove and a grill,” McKnight previously said.”

“There isn’t a nice sit-down restaurant in the area,” McKnight said in the Block Club Chicago article. “We’re trying to bring a new experience and something nice to the neighborhood.”
