The new restaurant is not yet open to the public, but is in the early stages of a “soft opening” just for the neighborhood, based on its Instagram account. A timeline for a wider opening has not been announced.

Behind Mustard Seed are some “close friends” of the owners of Chef Luciano Kitchen & Chicken, according to a statement from the restaurant, which was housed at the location for nearly 40 years. One of those friends appears to be Erick Williams, a prolific chef and restaurateur who helms Hyde Park’s Virtue Restaurant & Bar. Williams did not return a request for comment by press time.

Mustard Seed is a “re-concept” of Chef Luciano, with new branding and a new menu. From a sneak peek menu on its website, it appears Mustard Seed will be influenced by Chef Luciano’s emphasis on pasta and roasted chicken, but will add burgers, new entrees and desserts from Brown Sugar Bakery.

When Mustard Seed fully opens, its hours will be Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The restaurant will be closed on Sundays.
