Previously, the bakery was found at 204 S. Main Street in downtown Crow Point and in Munster, at the intersection of Ridge Road and Hohman Avenue. The company’s first Crown Point location closed during the pandemic and was eventually replaced by Sakura KJ Sushi & Hibachi Steak House, according to NWI Times. Now, Great Harvest Bakery is getting ready to return this summer, with the Smith family recently buying the franchise rights to Northwest Indiana.

“We have been looking for the right business opportunity for a few years,” Elise Smith, one of the franchise owners, told NWI Times. “When we found Great Harvest and saw their mission and values, we knew that this was exactly what we wanted to build and grow in our community.”

When the new Great Harvest Bakery opens at the end of a strip mall, it will have a drive-thru. Customers can expect various loaves of bread that are baked fresh daily, such as Spinach Feta, Cranberry Orange, Cinnamon Raisin Walnut, and their signature Cinnamon Chip Bread. The cafe will also have different lunch and breakfast options, including sandwiches, salads, and soups. The Smiths hope to open more locations in Northwest Indiana in the coming years.

“I’m extremely excited for them as this is a great location and one of the few drive-thrus available in Northwest Indiana,” Brett McDermott of Latitude Commercial, which brokered the deal, told NWI Times. “The community has anxiously been waiting for Great Harvest to return, and the Smiths are excited to get their doors open and offer their wonderful products to our residents.”
