This will be the seventh location for the Indiana-based Mexican restaurant and cantina. Co-owner Rosendo Mendoza tells What Now Chicago he expects to open the new location in three months, sometime in Summer 2022. He first opened El Salto from Valparaiso, IN, in 1999 before bringing his brother Robert Mendoza to increase business. The brothers have created a menu full of fresh, authentic Mexican cuisine in a cultured, festive, and inviting atmosphere. The new El Salto will move into the former home of 41 Pizzeria & Pub.

El Salto is notoriously known for its amazing margaritas and weekly margarita specials. Their dishes are always served with the finest ingredients and quality service. The company has been voted number one in the region, and a big reason for that is their delicious entrees, including molcajete, la parrillada, alambre, and tacos michoacanos. The new location, the company’s southernmost site, will expose a new market to their delicious food.

“This will be an excellent location to add to the El Salto portfolio,” says Latitude Commercial’s Brett McDermott, a representative of both the tenant and Landlord. “It is strategically located to capture both the Cedar Lake and St. John residents. With the continued residential boom of this area, the local community will now have a great Mexican dining option.”
