Schaumburg officials approved plans to demolish the former 30,000-square-foot Saks Off Fifth store in the Woodfield Village Green Shopping Center for the company’s third Illinois location, according to the Daily Herald. BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse made its state debut in Orland Park and is getting ready to open a new location in Algonquin later this year. The restaurant plans to use the former Saks at 1430 E. Golf Road as the site’s parking lot. There is no official opening date for the 7,662-square-foot location.

The California-based company has more than 215 locations nationwide, offering a full menu of restaurant classics, such as pizza, slow-roasted entrees, pasta, burgers, and more. The new BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse will be open every at 11 am and close at 11 pm Sunday through Thursday and at midnight on Friday and Saturday. The company plans to hire about 150 employees for the new Schaumburg location. There will be a separate entrance for mobile and takeout orders.

BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse will sit north of several businesses in the Woodfield Village Green shopping center, including PetSmart, HomeGoods, Bloomingdale’s, The Container Store, and more. The restaurant will have to compete with a handful of chain and local restaurants in the area, including Miller’s Ale House, Buffalo Wild Wings, Westwood Tavern, and The Cheesecake Factory in the Woodfield Mall.
