A new Wendy’s restaurant is proposed for 1101 E Dundee Road, according to a meeting agenda for Palatine’s Planning and Zoning Commission. The site was formerly occupied by Famous Dave’s, which has been demolished in preparation for future development.

The proposal is from Hamra Gateway LLC, an entity of Hamra Enterprises. They are proposing to construct a nearly 2,300-square-foot Wendy’s restaurant and drive-through at the site.

The restaurant would have indoor seating for 25, as well as 20 exterior seats. Forty-six parking spaces are proposed, which exceeds the required minimum of 23 spaces.

Hamra Enterprises began in the 1970s with the opening of a Wendy’s restaurant in Springfield, Missouri. The group is also a franchisee of Panera Bread, Noodles & Company and Caribou Coffee. Hamra Enterprises has restaurant locations across the South, Midwest and Eastern regions of the U.S., including 26 Wendy’s restaurants in Illinois.

Wendy’s was founded in 1969 in Columbus, Ohio. The menu includes hamburgers, fries, chicken nuggets, salads and other signature items like chili, baked potatoes and the Frosty. There are more than 7,000 locations of the fast-casual concept worldwide.
