Cantina Rosa is coming to 5230 S. Harper Avenue, expected to serve a variety of agave-based and sugarcane-derived spirits.

The concept comes from acclaimed chef and restaurateur Erick Williams, who owns Virtue Restaurant & Bar and Daisy’s Po-Boy and Tavern (both of which are nearby where Cantina Rosa will be), as well as Mustard Seed Kitchen.

Jesus Garcia, the general manager of Virtue Restaurant & Bar, is also at the helm of the new establishment, which will serve beverages and small bites inspired by Garcia’s Mexican heritage, Eater Chicago reports.

Virtue Restaurant & Bar opened in 2018, serving southern cuisine. Now, Williams and Garcia are working together on the new beverage-focused concept. Paul McGee helped develop the drinks and bar layout.

The space, designed by Boone Interiors, will be a modern bar atmosphere, with distinctive features like pops of fuchsia on the walls.

Cantina Rosa, under construction now, is expected to open this fall. Follow @cantinarosahydepark on Instagram for updates.

Hyde Park is located on the South Side of Chicago, near the shore of Lake Michigan.
