Demolition recently began for the 7.5-acre site, which will eventually become a proposed five-building development called Crossroads of Schaumburg, according to the Daily Herald. Lazy Dog and five other eateries are expected to open in Spring 2024. Other confirmed restaurants for this site include Velvet Taco, Naansense, Crisp & Green, Piccolo Buco, and Cava. The project is 90 percent leased, according to Savas Er, principal of North American Real Estate.

The California-based company, owned and operated by founder and CEO Chris Simms, already has locations in Naperville, Oak Brook, and Vernon Hills, with sites in California, Colorado, Texas, Georgia, Florida, Nevada, and Virginia. Lazy Dog Restaurants is also working on new locations in San Jose, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Orlando, FL; Garland, TX; and San Diego, CA. When the locations open later this year, customers can expect a relaxed lodge-style restaurant that focuses on global comfort food classics.

While the company doesn’t expect to open this location until next spring, customers can get an idea of what will be on the menu with Lazy Dog’s recent Spring menu being announced. The new menu includes a Mediterranean trio, a pulled pork sandwich, a chicken katsu sandwich, slow-cooked pork carnitas, a chicken katsu road trip bowl, lumberjack pancake tacos, loaded donut holes, and kid’s chocolate chip pancakes. For drinks, Lazy Dog has introduced the watermelon margarita, patron paloma, Lillet lemon fizz, and rose Aperol spritz.
