Naperville will soon welcome a location of BG Hospitality Group’s chef-driven, farm-to-fork concept GIA MIA Pizza Bar. The brand featuring Neapolitan-style wood-fired pizzas, seasonal small plates, fresh pasta, and hand-made mozzarella will open an eatery in the Old Nichols Library on S. Washington Street in what is now called Central Park Place.

Chef and Owner Brian Goewey says the restaurant group’s newest location has been a long time coming.  “We’ve always looked at [Naperville], for about 10 years,” Goewey said over a phone interview with What Now Chicago, “and we finally found a great opportunity.”

GIA MIA Naperville will open at 110 S. Washington Street, in the building across from Central Park that dates back to the 1800s. “It’s a historic project…so it’s a cool project for us,” he added, noting the opening will mark GIA MIA’s sixth location and the ninth brick-and-mortar from BG Hospitality, which is based in the western suburbs.

Renovations are just now gearing up, and masons are inside the space working to expose some of the 1800s brick-work to bring out the building’s original look. Goewey says the site is still about two weeks from major construction.

The proprietor is particularly excited to join the Naperville community. “It’s a fantastic market,” Goewey shared. “Outside of Downtown Chicago, it’s the number one market in the western suburbs.”

As far as the timeline goes, Goewey says the group is on track to open the restaurant by mid-summer, just in time to debut fresh summer menus featuring seasonal ingredients.
