The company’s newest location will move into the former home of Marcello’s Father and Son Restaurant, which closed in 2019 after more than 70 years, according to Eater Chicago. The popular eatery debuted in Chicago’s West Loop in 2016 and has since expanded to Denver and Dallas. Now Four Corners Tavern Group is getting ready to grow the restaurant within Chicago. While the exact opening date is unclear, managing director Matt Doherty tells Eater the new location is expected to open sometime next year.

“Since opening in Chicago’s West Loop in 2016, Federales has continued to be a fan-favorite tequila and taco spot beloved in the City and beyond as we also expanded the concept to locations in Dallas earlier this year and Denver in Summer 2021,” Doherty tells Eater Chicago. “We wanted to bring another taste of our popular concept to Chicago, expanding with a second Federales location in Logan Square, and we’re excited to offer the same great authentic drinks, creative tacos, and industrial vibe to continue building memorable experiences for our guests in 2023.”

While each location has its own specials and unique perks, the Chicago location features some delicious Mexican staples. The restaurant’s tacos are made with housemade tortillas and can feature many meat options, including pork belly, wood-grilled shrimp, smoked brisket, and more. West Loop’s specialties currently include a brisket burrito and a smoked chicken enchilada. When the new Federales opens next year, customers can expect delicious barbecue-style tacos, ceviche, and plenty of tequila.
