Hart acquired the former Cupids Candies Factory back in 2020. With the grant, Hart intends to renovate the site, which dates back to 1936, in order to expand production of her own candy line, Brown Sugar Life is Sweet.

Block Club Chicago reports Hart will work toward renovating the kitchen with plans to bake her cakes at the factory. Other work areas include the factory’s roof, electrical system, and ventilation system. Hart hopes to complete the renovations by October.

Brown Sugar Bakery operates three locations and is described as serving up “Award Winning & Dangerously Delicious Southern Style cakes & desserts.”
