Larry’s, an Uptown cocktail bar from Michael Salvatore of Heritage Hospitality Group, is in the process of expanding into the kitchen and dining space next door in order to add a dining component to the concept. Larry’s Diner won’t open until early 2022, reports Eater Chicago, however Salvatore has already begun piloting some of the bites that will be available from the kitchen once the space opens.

You can find handcrafted drinks like Puppy Love, Organized Noize, and Dutty Ripoff in the ‘cozy, neighborhood drinking den’ at 1020 W. Lawrence Avenue, which shares an address with the former 3 Squares Diner space. Salvatore, who also owns Heritage Bikes & Coffee, opened Larry’s four years ago, and according to Eater, learned a few months ago that the restaurant space had become available. He’s been testing menu items with the bar’s patrons ever since.

You can expect a smash burger, crispy fries, and roasted Brussels sprouts, as well as salchipapas, a Peruvian street food. Chef Ryan Silver also of Heritage Restaurant Group is reportedly working on a thin-crust pizza for the diner, and Larry’s social media suggests you’ll be able to find a salad on the menu as well.

An opening date has not been announced, so you’ll want to keep an eye on Larry’s social media for updates on the expansion (and trivia night, of course).
