Franchisee M&M Custard, LLC plans to open four new locations this year, starting with Westmont at 80 W 63rd Street and Montgomery at 1020 Ogden Avenue. While both locations’ opening dates depend on the weather, according to franchise CEO Eric Cole, the former is planned for early June 2023, and the latter aims to open around late June 2023 or early July 2023. The franchise also plans to open a new 3,230-square-foot drive-through location in Naperville at the High Grove Plaza.

“Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers is excited to bring our product to the Naperville, Montgomery, and Westmont communities,” Cole tells What Now Chicago. “We can’t wait to expand our brand throughout Chicagoland!”

The new Naperville site will be on the east side of Route 59 just north of Glacier Park Avenue. While an official opening date hasn’t been released for this location, the company recently received a unanimous recommendation from the city’s planning and zoning commission for a parking variance. The shopping center, which includes an Urban Air Adventure Park, requires 409 parking spaces, and the new Freddy’s would cause a deficit of 36 spaces. M&M Custard, LLC also plans to open a site in Valley Park, MO, in the 4th quarter of 2023.

The Wichita-based company was founded by brothers Bill and Randy Simon in 2002 in honor of their father. Now, Freddy’s has more than 400 Freddy’s franchises across the country. M&M Custard, LLC already operates several Freddy’s locations within the Chicago Metro area, including Orland Park, Homewood, Frankfort, Glendale Heights, Lake Zurich, Crystal Lake, and Romeoville.
