This is the latest project from the team behind The Northman, Bar on Buena, and the now-closed Fountainhead. The group is planning to introduce this new eatery in phases, starting with the cafe opening next month in September. Then, The Green Post’s pub will open in late fall 2022 and will feature an outdoor sidewalk patio, alley dining space, a custom savory pie machine, three rooms, and two garden spaces. The rooms will be used for beverage tastings, private events, and more.

The Green Post Cafe will be open from 7 am to 2 pm and offer various drinks and breakfast foods, including pies and pastries. The pub, on the other hand, will serve food inspired by England, Ireland, and Scotland that will change throughout the day, focusing largely on meat and vegetable pies. The owners, which include Aaron Zacharias, Scott Morgan, and Dave and Darby Putman, believe this new restaurant will be a “testament to the century’s old traditions and evolution of the Public House,” according to the company’s website.

The new cafe and pub will move into the former home of The Red Lion Lincoln Square, which closed in early 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The replacement may cause confusion, as there is an English pub with the same name in Lincoln Park. Nonetheless, The Green Post will serve as a place for guests to meet friends, host meetings, play games, work remotely, and watch sports.
