Sweetgreen will continue its Chicagoland growth by opening a new storefront at 1143 Lake Street in Oak Park. A Craigslist Advertisement indicates the company is in the process of hiring a general manager for the location, and official permitting documents obtained by What Now Chicago indicate construction on the space will likely be completed by late May 2022, leaving the opening date to fall after that timeframe.
The fast-casual brand based out of Los Angeles, CA is on a mission to connect communities to ‘real food.’ Founded in Washington D.C. in 2017 by friends searching for tasty, healthy food at a reasonable price point, the brand has quickly taken off across the country. Upwards of 100 locations can be found throughout the U.S.
As far as the menu goes, you can find a rotating selection of warm bowls, featuring a protein served over a grain or root vegetable, salads that are heavy on the greens, and plates that offer heftier portions. Hey, maybe Chicago will even get its own “local bowl” in the coming months.
The greater Chicago area has recently welcomed a Sweetgreen in Hyde Park, and another is expected to open on E. Ontario Street in Streeterville.
