Following the launch of the company’s first drive-through window at Vernon Hills in December 2020, Shake Shack is hoping to open a similar location, possibly at the corner of Army Trail Road and Springfield Drive, according to the Daily Herald. A company representative couldn’t provide additional details regarding this location but did confirm with What Now Chicago that a new corporate-owned drive-through location is planned to open in Bloomingdale sometime in 2024.

“As we began to focus on the importance of accessibility and choice, the decision was made to incorporate into preexisting shacks such as Vernon Hills,” Steph So, Shake Shack’s Vice President of Digital Experience, said at the time of the opening.

This new location will have indoor seating and an outdoor patio that will have an additional 24 seats. Bloomingdale trustees will review plans during an upcoming committee, with a final vote expected next month. The plan commission has already endorsed the development of the Old Second National Bank on Army Trail Road to make room for a 3,800-square-foot restaurant and a new, smaller Second National bank, according to the Daily Herald.

The company wants to “get moving as quickly as possible and hopefully break ground in the early part of spring,” according to Sean Gascoigne, the village’s director of community and economic development. He tells the Daily Herald local reactions have been “extremely positive, and people are super excited to have something like this in Bloomingdale.”
