The company’s second location, called Olive Black Chicago, will move into the former home of The Land of Lincoln. Owner Wendy Prinn tells What Now Chicago she hoped to open the new site at the end of October 2022, but a pending liquor license has delayed the opening date. When the new lounge opens, customers can expect a similar drink menu, except with even more specialty cocktails and plenty of tapas, similar to the original site. The new Olive Black Chicago will sit between a Barks N’ Rec and the vacated Chicago Antique Centre.

This new location will be a perfect fit for the company’s expansion, as it will become the only lounge in Southwest Lake View. Lange’s Lounge, Underground Lounge, and Rose’s Lounge are all the next closest, but none will offer authentic Spanish tapas for its customers. Olive Black Chicago also offers space for private events, such as birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, and bachelor/ bachelorette parties.

The company’s original location at 5607 Broadway opened in 2006 under different ownership. After a few life events occurred for the owners, they decided to sell the business and move to Arizona. Prinn bought the company after being laid off after working as a benefits administrator for over a decade. The most significant change she and her husband Dan Prinn implemented was shifting the food menu from appetizers to tapas. Now she is getting ready to expand the business closer to Chicago later this year.
