Zach Rivera, Christina Chae, and Marvin Boeving will open two bars in the Northwest Side space that last housed Hops & Barley, reports Chicago Eater. Moonflower, a neighborhood tavern with food, will open on the first floor of the 3,000 square-foot two-story restaurant space on N. Milwaukee Ave, while Nightshade will offer a funkier cocktail lounge experience in the space’s basement.

The three owners, who met while working for the Machine Hospitality group, shared an announcement over social media just two weeks ago, writing, “Big News! After over 2 years of planning, we are proud to announce that we officially closed on a location for @moonflowerbar !”

Moonflower is expected to open in mid-November, while Nightshade, its more experimental sibling, will follow by opening around a month later.

Rivera told Eater the downstairs bar will be a darker, jazzier spot with experimental cocktails like corn chip and poblano martinis and a gin-based cocktail with coconut, purple rice, and lime. But don’t panic if you only like the classics, Nightshade will have those covered too. And boy do all those drinks look stunning.

We recommend you check the bars out on social media for updates.
