Owner Bob Mariano opened the grocery store’s first location last June in Lincoln Park at 2730 N. Halsted St., and already has another planned to open in Old Town by Fall 2022. Now, the industry veteran is partnering with Hogsalt Hospitality Group founder and CEO Brendan Sodikoff to significantly expand the brand across the area. Sodikoff, who also founded Au Cheval and Doughnut Vault, will be in charge of the food offerings, store design, and menu development.

“Brendan is a natural fit for our expanding team,” Mariano said in a statement. “He has a unique way of creating a fully rounded customer experience, and I look forward to him joining the team.”

The concept, which Mariano co-founded in 2019 with Don Fitzgerald, a former senior executive at Dominick’s, is much more than just a grocery store. Dom’s Kitchen & Market combines grocery shopping with show kitchens, dining options, and food delivery. These stores will feature coffee shops in the morning and wine options at night. Guests can purchase made-to-order pizzas and rotisserie chickens and buy their flower bouquets. Sodikoff plans to “draw on the portfolio of concepts” from Hogsalt.

“I was attracted to Dom’s because of our similar hospitality-focused philosophies of building community and high-quality guest and food experiences,” Sodikoff said in the release.
