You can currently find yourself a plate of chicken and waffles, with your choice cut of chicken, in Bronzeville and Oak Park at Chicago’s Home of Chicken and Waffles, the popular eatery owned and operated by Tonya Johnson. The company currently operates two locations, both of which are open seven days a week for breakfast through dinner service, although that may be about to change.

According to an advertisement placed on Craigslist on October 14th,  Chicago’s Home of Chicken and Waffles may be bringing some of that waffle-love beyond the borders of Illinois. The advertisement, which is calling for a manager at the eatery’s Oak Park location, reads, “Chicago’s Home of Chicken & Waffles is an independently owned company with 2 restaurants. We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and are working to expand into new markets throughout the country.”

Speaking with What Now Chicago, Johnson confirmed the potential for the expansion but declined to share where the company is scouting, referring only to the sites as “express” stores.

Well, we can’t blame anyone out of state for wanting a taste of this menu. Chicago’s Home of Chicken and Waffles serves an entire menu of chicken and waffles combinations, from your choice of chicken breast, thighs, legs, or wings, to fried chicken gizzards, livers, or giblets. Catfish and waffles is also on the menu, as are omelets, salads and sandwiches, wings, and an array of sides.
