Chef Ambrocio Gonzalez has filed a permit application with the City of Chicago for the build-out of a “new general restaurant” at 2459 S. Christiana Avenue. The Little Village space, which sits at the Northeast corner of Christiana and W. 25th St, is diagonal from Chef Gonzalez’s La Catedral Café & Restaurant, the breakfast and brunch spot at 2500 Christiana Avenue.

La Catedral Café & Restaurant is an award-winning restaurant co-founded by Chef Gonzalez and Alfredo Flores. In 2013 and 2015, the café was named Best Restaurant of the Year in La Villita, as well as Best Restaurant of the Month by the Little Village Chamber of Commerce.

Chef Gonzalez is also behind Las Quecas, which serves up, in addition to “quesadillas the size of your head,” tortas, tacos, burritos, Queca Breakfast, and Mini Queso Queca, and other items. The Chef’s website indicates his future plans to open a “modern Mexican eatery and venue.”

We’re awaiting word back from Chef Gonzalez on what exactly will open in the new space on Christiana Avenue; this article will be updated as more information becomes available.
