There’s no substantial web presence to be found for Champion Vines, a company that’s currently in the liquor licensing phase. According to documents obtained by What Now Chicago, Champion Vines will set up shop in Wicker Park at 1804 Damen Ave. The liquor license applications, which were filed last month, are for both “packaged goods” and “consumption on premises.”

The owner/officer listed on the application is Matt Esser who, according to LinkedIn, is a wine & spirits consultant with experience working as an assistant wine buyer. Given the applications, Champion Vines will likely be a wine bar or shop with tastings, although we were unable to reach Esser at the time of publication to confirm.

Champion Vines will be located near the corner of N. Damen and W. Churchill St, just across from Churchill Field Park. Sarpino’s Pizzeria, En Hakkore Bibimbap & Taco, and Mindy’s Bakery neighbor the new shop, which will sit right at the edge of Bucktown and Wicker Park.
