“A new Mexican agave lounge and restaurant, is set to open its doors in Wicker Park this October 2024. Botanero, led by Chef Yanitzin Sanchez and restaurateur Richard Vallejo, offers a unique blend of traditional Mexican cuisine and innovative cocktails,” a press release states.
“Botanero, which translates to ‘a place where one gets snacks’ in Spanish, will offer both tasting menu options as well as an a la carte menu of botanas, or appetizers, and other small portions of food often enjoyed with drinks.”
“Every Wednesday, the restaurant’s culinary and beverage teams will present a tasting menu called Bar X Chef, a ‘Cocktail & Culinary Collaboration’ featuring 10 courses of agave-forward cocktails paired with small bites. Limited seats will be available during two-time slots.”
“On weekends starting Saturday, November 9th, Botanero will offer a bottomless brunch at $45 per person with a 90-minute time limit, featuring unlimited brunch cocktails like a house margarita, Michelada, mimosa and brunch spritzer, along with a brunch entree and sweet treat for the table.”
“Botanero features a sophisticated and inviting atmosphere designed by Vallejo himself, who has helped other restaurants in Chicagoland with new restaurant launches as an industry consultant. The interior showcases rich earth tones and accents of gold leaf. The overall vibe is dark, moody, and cozy, perfect for a romantic evening out.”
According to the article, “Chef Yani and Vallejo are frequent collaborators. They teamed on Taquizo, a casual taqueria that opened in 2022 and has since closed in Wicker Park. Taquizo was a reboot of Las Palmas. There are also two shuttered suburban Mexican spots: Mercado Cocina in suburban Glenview and Cine in Hinsdale.”
