Owners are hoping to pay $6 million to purchase the site west of the Schaumburg Convention Center and Renaissance Hotel, essentially starting the first phase of a new entertainment district, according to the Daily Herald. Schaumburg trustees will vote on the approval of the purchase and sales agreement on January 10. The village finance committee has recommended these terms. If approved, customers can expect this new multi-purpose facility to open sometime in 2024.

Once all is said and done, Andretti Indoor Karting & Games hopes to build an 80,000-square-foot building costing roughly $20 million. Customers can expect a multi-level karting track, arcade, two-level laser tag arena, bowling, virtual reality attractions, a full restaurant and bar, and 10,000 square feet of event space. The 8-acre entertainment district will also feature another entertainment venue, restaurant, and a 900-space parking deck. The top of the parking structure will have an elevated walkway connecting it to the Renaissance Hotel.

This will be Andretti Karting’s first location within Illinois, with six locations in Georgia, Texas, and Florida. The company successfully handled the pandemic, generating an all-time high of $100 million in revenues in 2021. Once fully operational, the Andretti Karting alone is projected to generate $16 million in annual sales and $12.5 million in property taxes for improvements within the TIF district, according to the Daily Herald.
