A representative of Dad’s Place was not immediately available to comment upon What Now Chicago’s request.
According to the article, “Married couple Ron Prokaski and Andrea Kardaras hope to open the bar and music venue, a spinoff of Mom’s Place in River North, in September.”
“They hope to recreate the atmosphere Prokaski experienced growing up in bars: the camaraderie between patrons and bartenders, the comforting atmosphere and familiar energy, he said.”
“My grandfather used to take me to bars in the middle of the afternoon,” Prokaski said in the Block Club Chicago article. “I didn’t realize it at the time, but he was essentially a bookie of sorts. He’d give me quarters to play the Duckpin bowling game and a Yoo-hoo while he took care of business.”
“Once the remodel is complete, Prokaski hopes Dad’s Place can become Wrigleyville’s version of Mom’s Place: a comfortable and inviting neighborhood bar in an otherwise touristy part of the city.”
“Dad’s Place will have live music, karaoke, comfort food, and other neighborhood bar staples. More than anything, it will serve as an oasis for people looking to sneak away from the late-night and rowdy crowds of Wrigleyville, Prokaski said.”
