The new restaurant will move into a space that was the former home of Lebanon Bites and Semiramis in early Summer 2023, according to the company’s social media. Customers can expect a Persian-inspired tasting menu with food delivery service options. Co-owners Mariam and Farzad Shahsavarani recently applied for a liquor license, suggesting Maman Zari will also have some alcohol. Farzad Shahsavarani is the Managing Partner at Global Food Partnership and has decades of experience as a restaurant operator.

“While we aren’t yet ready to invite you to celebrate the start of spring with us this year, we’ve been busy with “khane tekani” – thoroughly cleaning and preparing for the new year – and are excited to announce a new tasting menu restaurant opening in Chicago this summer,” the company recently announced on their social media accounts.

When Maman Zari opens later this year, it will move to a busy part of Kedzie Avenue right off the subway tracks. The new restaurant will have to compete with several other Persian restaurants nearby, such as Kabobi and Noon O Kabab. Maman Zari will share a building with a flower shop, a smoke shop, and a salon, all sitting beneath several apartments. The restaurant’s Facebook also suggests the restaurant will serve some Iranian food.
