A La Folie is a popular dessert company founded by Alexis Karter and Chef Jerome Landrieu. Specializing in decadent chocolate treats with a particular focus on French Macaroons, the couple strives to be as authentic as possible in their pursuit of the perfect macaroon. While there has been a bit of a macaroon renaissance as of late, Alexis and Jerome go the extra mile by obsessively refining the ideal macaroon texture, which they describe as having a crunchy shell with a moist interior.
With a mission to craft treats that can only be described as “a joy to bite into,” Alexis and Jerome became initiated into the wonderful world of chocolate when they worked together at Barry Callebaut, and helped transform the company into the international brand we recognize today. The store’s name is derived from the couple’s signature phrase “Je t’aime a la folie!”, which essentially translates to “I love you like crazy!” in French.
While A La Folie formerly operated at 2728 Forgue Drive in Naperville, it appears that Alexis and Jerome are expanding their operation and moving into a new location further down the road at 2835 Show Place Drive. The new location boasts 1,500 square feet of space and the lease is scheduled to start in April 2022.
